Zug sings! | 35 choirs | 10 stages
The Zug Choir Night – the biggest event of the year for choirs in Zug – is just around the corner and will mark the opening of the 2025 / 2026 season at the Theater Casino Zug! In the city’s old town, we will be shown just how diverse, active and inspiring the choral scene is in Zug, with yodelling, church, oratory, gospel and pop choirs as well as those for women, men and children. 35 choirs – some big, some small – will perform selections from their repertoires during a unique evening across 10 stages.
A particular highlight promises to be the stage performance of the XANG choir from Zug at the Theater Casino Zug, in conjunction with an ensemble of musicians led by Jimmy Muff. Director Christoph Haering and composer Muff have selected a number of texts, primarily in dialect, from the rich cannon of Thomas Hürlimann. The music written to accompany them crosses many genres, from smoky blues to folky fun, Latin swing and French ballads.
This Theater Casino Zug | TMGZ and Verein Zuger Chornacht co-production will premiere at the 2025 Zuger Choir Night at the Theater Casino Zug. It will also kick off performances of Thomas Hürlimann’s comedy «De Franzos im Ybrig», which premieres on 25 October 2025 and will see the Theater Casino Zug celebrate the 75th birthday of this major Swiss author from Zug. The Zug Choir Night will be rounded off by singing with the public joining in, on the Landsgemeindeplatz from 10.40 pm.
