The Zuger Sinfonietta is performing Camille Saint-Saëns’ much-loved musical fable «The Carnival of the Animals» at the Theater Casino Zug with an equally-loved voice. Famous presenter Kurt Aeschbacher is to be the narrator who leads us through this musical kingdom, while the orchestra will be conducted by Johannes Meister and feature young performers from the Zug Music School and their teachers. Large-format illustrations will be projected as a backdrop.
With its catchy, timeless melodies, Saint-Saëns’ «The Carnival of the Animals» draws musical portraits of animals – some funny, others thought-provoking but all of them spot-on. The work has become a classic and a reflection of the diversity of the animal kingdom, where certain similarities with human characteristics are certainly no coincidence. Kurt Aeschbacher, who has produced his own text version of the work on CD, uses his trademark wit and depth to take us through the various pieces. In Bernese dialect, he describes each animal and introduces the orchestral instruments which Saint-Saëns had masterfully chosen to represent the different creatures.
