Yodelling | Joik | White voice
Three voices from as many different countries meet authentic Swiss yodelling – an unusual combination that came about thanks to famous yodeller Nadja Räss, who met charismatic Ukrainian singer Mariana Sadovska and Outi Pulkkinen from Finland at the Toggenburg «Naturstimmen» Festival. They formed an understanding through music which overcame language barriers. Here, they will sing and perform newly arranged pieces from each of their personal repertoires, most of them being traditional melodies from their homelands. Swiss yodelling will cross swords with archaic Finnish Runic song and the light, clear and intense Ukrainian White Voice singing style.
In contrast to these impressive female voices comes the music of traditional Swiss yodelling trio Hersche-Looser, who sing and perform emotional yodelling songs, traditional natural yodelling and Zäuerli. The singers and musicians in the trio, who focus on the joy of singing and customs worth preserving, are all members of the Ebnat-Kappel yodelling club. The leader of the pack is Hansueli Hersche, who also heads up the Ebnat-Kappel and Teufen yodelling clubs.
