Theater- und Musikgesellschaft Zug
Since 1808, the non-profit association Theater- und Musikgesellschaft Zug has been contributing to a lively and diverse cultural landscape in Zug. In 1909, it built the historic Theater Casino Zug. As one of the oldest and most traditional institutions in Zug, the association now has around 1,000 members and supporters.
Since the 2025/26 theatre season, the Theater- und Musikgesellschaft Zug has been the sole sponsor of the Theater Casino Zug and is responsible not only for the professional cultural programme in the theatre, but also for socio-cultural and commercial rentals. The programme includes drama, musical theatre, classical music, world music, performance, comedy, dance and young theatre, offering a combination of tradition, zeitgeist and openness. Both internationally renowned programme items and local cultural creators contribute to this diverse mix of guest performances and co-productions. Events aimed at children, young people and school classes also have a firm place in the programme with the ‘Junges Theater Casino Zug’ (Casino Zug Youth Theatre) section, in order to ‘strive for aesthetic education with combined forces’, as stated in the minutes of a board meeting in 1809. The Zug Theatre and Music Society shapes cultural and social life in Zug with strong, ever-changing and surprising accents.
