Theatre Casino Zug
Since its opening in 1909, the Theatre Casino Zug has been a central venue for culture and social gatherings in the city of Zug. In 1981, the historic theatre building was expanded with a modern theatre stage in the immediate vicinity. With its diverse programme and unique location on the lake, the Theatre Casino Zug has a lasting impact on the cultural and social life of the region. The theatre combines three essential pillars: a wide-ranging theatre and concert programme, the rental of prestigious premises for clubs and public and private events, and a restaurant that rounds off the guests' visit.
The cultural programme includes drama, musical theatre, classical music, world music, dance, performance, comedy, circus and more. In addition to internationally renowned productions, Swiss and local artists and the ‘Junges Theater Casino Zug’ (Young Theatre Casino Zug) also have a permanent place in the programme. In this way, the theatre promotes social dialogue, aesthetic education and cultural participation across generations.
For decades, the Theater Casino was managed by two organisations: the Theater- und Musikgesellschaft Zug (Zug Theatre and Music Society) for the cultural programme and the Stiftung Theater Casino Zug (Zug Theatre Casino Foundation) for rental operations. Since the 2025/26 season, the Theater Casino Zug has been run solely by the Theater- und Musikgesellschaft Zug. Founded in 1808, it is one of the oldest cultural institutions in the city. For over two centuries, it has been committed to promoting the performing arts and music, aesthetic education and social exchange. With its commitment to quality, diversity and openness, it ensures that the Theater Casino Zug will remain a vibrant place of art, inspiration and exchange in the future.
