Wie Ida einen Schatz versteckt und Jakub keinen findet

«Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hide some treasure?» Ida thought. «Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find some treasure?» thought Jakub, who then set about drawing up a map for his treasure hunt. This play leads children deep into a wilderness where animals talk, mountains laugh, trees bow their heads and fog turns out to be a very good listener. Author Andri Beyeler sends his two main protagonists out into the very heart of nature, Ida relying on gut instinct while Jakub simply takes things as they come. 

This fantastical journey is brought to life via actors and a live camera, with the latter used to extract magical aspects from everyday life – a little puddle turns into the sea if you zoom in closely enough, the grooves that a plastic rake makes in a sandpit become a ploughed field, and a colourful bucket can be turned into a sunset.

 The play is suitable for children aged 5 and above from the second year of kindergarten, while the remarkable way in which it has been put together provides an amusing insight into the art of filming, meaning that it can also be of real interest to older children. In any case, it makes for an hour of entertainment for the whole family. And last but not least, its highly visual nature means that it is also enjoyable for those who speak little German or Swiss German.
