Schweizer Theatertreffen 2027 in Zug und Luzern

The Schweizer Theatertreffen festival is returning to Zug and Lucerne! After the huge success of the May 2025 edition as well as 2026 in Yverdon and Lausanne, the foremost festival of the Swiss theatre is back in Central Switzerland here in Zug and Lucerne, with the grand opening on 9 June 2027 at the Theater Casino Zug.

For five days, it will bring highlights of the Swiss theatre season to Zug and Lucerne. The Theater Casino Zug will be the festival headquarters, where artists, audiences and those working in theatre will come from all around Switzerland to meet and experience the most outstanding productions from the previous year, discuss the art of the theatre and chat over brunch or a glass of wine in all of the country’s various languages.

In conjunction with the Chollerhalle and the Burgbachkeller in Zug, the Luzerner Theater, the Südpol Luzern and other cultural partners, the Theater Casino Zug is bringing this large-scale national event to Central Switzerland for the second time. The festival has established itself for the past 14 years by showcasing productions from all regions in Switzerland in different languages, with German subtitles, and offering a rich programme of theatrical and cultural / political subjects aimed at both those in the trade and the general public.

The SÉLECTION, drawn up by artistic director Julie Paucker, will feature six or seven of the finest productions and be published in March 2027 along with the definitive locations of the performances in Zug and Lucerne.
