Dúo Ranas are bringing powerful, rhythmic tango melodies to Zug direct from Buenos Aires. Musicians Pablo Schiaffino and Leandro Schnaider cut their teeth in the legendary Café Tortoni. Their first album back in 2007 took them to Europe and South Korea, and another 27 tours have followed, plus collaborations with renowned tango artists such as Lidia Borda and Walter «Chino» Laborde.

In Zug, they will be showcasing their fourth independent album «Tata», an Argentinean term for father. It combines 100-year-old tangos with melodies from the 1940s by Astor Piazolla as well as some compositions of their own. And for the first time, they will also be performing a «chacarera» – a Argentinean folk music gem with African roots.

Ranas have become known for their passionate yet detailed approach to listening to, decrypting and condensing old recordings. Their music is redolent of both the original arrangements and intensive interpretations of their own, enabling them to take the audience on a deeply authentic musical journey.

Piano: Pablo Schiaffino
Bandoneón: Leandro Schnaider
