We are delighted to invite you to the opening weekend of the season at the Theater Casino Zug, where you will be able to discover the new programme in all its diversity and find plenty of familiar favourites and exciting new elements besides.
On Saturday, the evening and the night belong to jazz. A pair of Italian jazz legends – Gianluigi Trovesi and Gianni Coscia – will be here to kick things off before handing over to Max Mantis. The young Swiss trio opens the Round Midnight Jam, which takes place in collaboration with the Jazz Night Zug association (www.jazznight.ch). As a veritable jam session, other musicians are also welcome to join the jam.
Sunday will see two vastly different world premieres at the Theater Casino Zug. The day begins with the first ever performance of “Alluvion” by Zug composer Cyrill Schürch. We will have the opportunity to hear this seven-minute-long work a couple of times and get to ask questions of the composer and the performers in between. At midday, artistic director Katrin Kolo willpersonally unveil the 2020/21 season programme, with none other than Michael Elsener alongside her.
The afternoon will feature a mini-workshop and a guided tour through the dark world of “In der Dunkelwelt”, where we get to explore the “Palimpsest” sound installation in the company of the artist Nicole Seiler, as well as enjoying other glimpses of what goes on behind the scenes. The first in the series of “Next Generation Talents” concerts will then feature Emily Flammer showing her expertise on the marimba.
And finally in the early evening, we will get to experience the second world premiere of the day in the form of “In der Dunkelwelt” – a dance theatre performance created especially for younger audiences by Swiss German choreographer Joachim Schlömer.
Many of the artists performing at the season-opening will be on hand and more than happy to talk to members of the audience about their various new creations.
Tickets are available for the season-opening free of charge, either online or at the Theater Casino Zug box office on the day. You don't need an extra free ticket for Saturday. They are available separately for the “Trovesi & Coscia” jazz concert on 19 September and for the “In der Dunkelwelt” dance performance.
Please familiarise yourself with the current safety and hygiene measures in place (www.theatercasinozug.ch/schutzkonzept) as well as the explanations that are on our website about the availability of food and drink. We would ask you to bring your own masks with you since you will be required to wear them while attending.
