Introduction at 7:15 pm (in German)
This unique concert project is inspired by female creativity. Raphaela Gromes, one of the most successful cellists of our times according to Rondo magazine, released a CD in February 2023 together with the Festival Strings Lucerne, entitled “Femmes”, and it only took a moment for the recording to race to the top of the German classical charts. Gromes' cello playing is characterised by its elegance, commitment, technical perfection, expression and variety in dynamics, rhythm and vibrato. In short, it leaves nothing to be desired, even at the highest level.
The Festival Strings Lucerne have also made a name for themselves on the international stage with their unique sound culture. They are happy to do without a conductor, creating a spontaneous dynamic of absolute teamwork. Much of their success is down to concert master Daniel Dodds, whose virtuoso violin skills are a match for Raphaela Gromes. Both also play in chamber music formation – a more intimate interplay you could hardly imagine.
As well as famous works by Robert Schumann and his Danish friend Niels Gade, we will be treated to rarely heard gems from composers such as Clara Schumann and Pauline Viardot-Garcia.
