For the fourth Abo (subscription) concert, much-sought-after violinist Tianwa Yang, crowned instrumentalist of the year in 2022, will be performing with the Zuger Sinfonietta, and she will be bringing the highly expressive violin concerto by US composer Samuel Barber, much of which was actually written in Switzerland. Pomp and pathos on the other hand characterise Weber’s Jubel Overture, with its refreshing finale. The masterful Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar round out the programme, and perhaps we will finally solve the age-old mystery of what kind of enigma the British composer meant…

Carl Maria von Weber
Jubel-Ouvertüre op. 59

Samuel Barber
Konzert für Violine und Orchester op. 14

Edward Elgar
Enigma-Variationen für Orchester op. 36 («Variations on an Original Theme»)

With der Zuger Sinfonietta
Direction: Daniel Huppert
Violin: Tianwa Yang
